Thanks for visiting Resort Rat!
My name is Scott, and our family loves visiting Disney World, Universal, SeaWorld, and other theme parks. However, we have realized that picking a resort, hotel, or vacation rental for your trip can be incredibly challenging.
For example, at Disney World alone, there are over TWENTY different Disney-owned resorts. Not to mention all the great places you can stay nearby in the Orlando area.
Resort Rat’s mission is to make your next vacation easier.
On Resort Rat, you will find lots of information, tips, reviews, pictures, and other valuable insights into Disney resorts, cruise ships, and parks. We have multiple writers who contribute information on a wide range of topics.
Where did you come up with the name Resort Rat?
When I told my wife what I was going to name my new Disney website, she looked at me with pure disgust. She HATED the name Resort Rat. “No one wants to think of rats in their hotel room” she said.
Honestly, she is probably right. It is probably a dumb name, but it makes me laugh. Especially when I can come up with catchlines like this:
“Resort Rat – the ONLY rodent you want to take on your next vacation.”
Or.
“Resort Rat might not be the rodent you want before planning your Disney vacation, but it’s the rodent you deserve.” (Do we have any “The Dark Knight” fans out there?)
But seriously, here is what I was thinking when I came up with the name:
- Since the site is mainly about Disney, I wanted to incorporate something that paid homage to the legend – Mickey Mouse. And since it seems like there are already a billion Disney blogs that have “Mouse” in the name, I wanted to mix it up and give some respect to the lonely RAT.
- Second, have you ever heard of a “gym rat?” Basically, it’s a person that LOVES working out and never leaves the gym. Well, in my opinion, a RESORT RAT is somebody that LOVES talking about the different resorts you can stay at!
I think now it’s perfectly clear why the site is called Resort Rat. Even though I still think my wife needs a bit more convincing. 🙂
Thank you for visiting. I hope you find what you are looking for on Resort Rat.
